Counting sheep....

Updated: Nov 8, 2023

While writing this blog, it has been quiet on the site for a while. And that had a reason. Not only was I working on a secret commission that I will be able to show you later this month, but also it was a really busy month in our stables.

Did you know we live on a sheepfarm with around hundred sheep? Well, it was lambingseason last month and that resulted in over 80 lambs being born.

Offcourse most of the sheep know perfectly well how to give birth and raise a lamb, but since it's better to be save than sorry I like to keep an eye out in the stables. Because what if for example the lamb isn't in the right position to come out? It's nice to be able to give the sheep a helping hand then. So we have cameras up in the stables and I set my alarm every two hours at night to check if everything is allright. Luckily allmost everything went really smooth this year, but still you're losing a lot of sleep and time to do other things in such a month.

To close the lambingseason I will be doing a "paint your own easterlamb workshop" this saturday, where the participants will be able to cuddle our lambs in the stables and they'll go home with a nice lambpainting on canvas at the end of the day.

I'll start some new paintings and projects really soon! For example I am going to be a guestteacher in our local school where I will be painting with a bunch of kids during a project about nature and there are plans being made for some nice murals in the same school!

(Yes, I know you almost forgot I also paint murals, since it's been a while!)

Also my small exhibition in the library is ending soon (more on that can be found on my facebooksite). I love how well the exhibition went, I even had people coming up to me on the streets asking me if I was "the Katinka" from the paintings and telling me they loved my work. It's really nice to get such recognition!

This exhibition really proved that no space is to small for some nice paintings, so if you know a place, big or small, that could be suited for some of my paintings to be shown, don't hesitate to contact me.

Here's a little happy video for you all from some of our lambs having a disco party! Do you wan't to know more about our farm? You can find us at Knibbe Texel og Hollandsk Broget Får | Kvorning | Facebook

Greetings Katinka
